🔥 Senior Embedded / IoT Engineer - Rust / Python / Linux
Elinext is an international software development company with 25+ years of experience delivering custom software solutions and dedicated engineering teams for clients worldwide. We work across Healthcare, IoT, Fintech, Manufacturing, Cloud, AI/ML, and other technology-driven domains.
We are currently looking for a strong Senior Embedded / IoT Engineer to join an international project focused on the development of a connected Smart Hub device and its integration with cloud voice and data services.
📍 Locations: Poland, EU countries, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan
About the Project
The Smart Hub is an in-home connected device combining voice interaction, sensors, device data, and cloud services for care-related use cases.
The role covers the device side of the solution - from embedded Linux services and real-time audio to IoT connectivity, sensor integration, secure cloud communication, and fleet updates.
You will work closely with embedded, hardware, cloud, and voice engineers and test solutions directly on supported ARM devices.
❗️ MUST HAVE
— Strong commercial experience in Embedded Systems and/or IoT
— Strong hands-on Linux / Embedded Linux experience
— Experience developing and debugging software on ARM devices
— Strong Rust development skills
— Strong Python 3 experience for integrations, tooling, testing, or device operations
— Experience with Linux processes, systemd, watchdogs, logs, networking, and resource management
— Experience with device-to-cloud communication using HTTP, WebSocket and/or MQTT
— Strong understanding of reliable connectivity, reconnect logic, buffering, and failure recovery
— Experience with real-time audio / Linux audio / media processing
— Experience with audio capture/playback, buffering, codecs, latency, echo, and noise handling
— Experience integrating connected devices and sensors
— Understanding of device security: TLS, credentials, enrolment, signed releases, least privilege
— Experience with testing, monitoring, debugging, and performance measurement on real hardware
Important: we are looking for a strong systems-level Embedded / IoT engineer. Pure backend Rust/Python experience without hands-on Embedded, IoT, or Linux systems expertise will not be sufficient.
Responsibilities
— Build and maintain long-running Rust services for ARM Linux devices
— Develop Python tools for cloud integration, provisioning, testing, and fleet operations
— Design reliable local interfaces between device services
— Configure process supervision and recovery using systemd
— Implement device-side cloud voice session logic
— Integrate streaming and request/response cloud interfaces
— Handle reconnects, backpressure, bounded buffers, and connectivity changes
— Implement secure device identity and communication
— Support signed releases, staged updates, health checks, and rollback
— Integrate Zigbee sensors via gateway / serial interfaces
— Process pairing, device status, endpoints, and sensor events
— Measure CPU, memory, network usage, latency, and audio quality
— Test long-running operation and failure recovery
— Document technical decisions and measured results
Strong Advantage
— Zigbee and sensor integration experience
— Experience with MiiCube X3 or comparable serial gateways
— Bluetooth Low Energy / BLE
— WebRTC / LiveKit / GStreamer
— Azure IoT Hub or similar cloud IoT platforms
— C / C++ at native-library boundaries
— Device telemetry and state management
— OTA / fleet management
— Profiling AI workloads on embedded devices
