Backend Developer (.NET) in the EU

Andersen is hiring a Backend Developer (.NET) in the EU for a project developing a modern digital insurance platform and delivering scalable, secure backend solutions. 

The customer is a large international organization operating in the insurance and risk protection domain, providing a wide range of services for both individual and corporate clients. The customer has a strong global presence, delivers diversified insurance solutions across multiple lines of business, and is known for its mature operational model, financial stability, and well-established expertise in service delivery and claims management. 

The project is focused on developing and enhancing a modern digital insurance technology platform that supports the end-to-end insurance lifecycle, including quoting, policy issuance, payments, servicing, renewals, and claims. The platform provides scalable, secure, and reusable APIs and digital services, enabling seamless integration of insurance products across web, mobile, and partner ecosystems. 

Responsibilities: 

• Designing and building .NET 8 microservices — FastEndpoints, clean architecture (Domain / Application / Infrastructure / API layers). 
• Implementing Temporal workflow orchestration — typed workflow and activity interfaces, cross-task-queue dispatch, signal/query patterns. 
• Building rules evaluation integrations with GoRules ZEN engine (GoRules.Zen NuGet, Rust FFI in-process). 
• Developing platform capabilities — config registry, rules API, workflow gateway, payment and policy adapters. 
• Implementing cross-cutting concerns — Managed Identity service-to-service auth, Cerbos authorization integration, structured logging via Serilog/Anotar. 
• Writing and maintaining xUnit tests — FakeItEasy for mocking, Shouldly for assertions; integration tests against real dependencies (no mock DB). 
• Collaborating with platform and domain teams on API contracts, OpenAPI specs, and shared NuGet libraries. 

Must-haves:  

• Hands-on .NET (v6+) development experience, with .NET 8 required, for 3+ years. 
• Strong understanding of Clean Architecture principles, including strict layer dependency rules, separation of business logic from the API layer, and Result-based error handling instead of exceptions for business errors.  
• Hands-on experience with ITemporalClient, IWorkflow, IActivity, task queue registration, and cross-task-queue dispatch.  
• Strong experience with Azure services, including Key Vault, Managed Identity, Blob Storage, and Application Insights.  
• Experience with structured error-handling patterns; familiarity with Result/Maybe patterns preferred. 
• Strong experience with Entity Framework Core or equivalent ORM technologies, including migrations, value objects, and aggregate roots.  
• Hands-on experience with automated testing using xUnit, FakeItEasy, and Shouldly, including integration testing patterns.  
• Strong hands-on experience with containerized local development using Docker, Podman, or equivalent technologies. 
• Good understanding of Dockerfiles and multi-stage builds. 
• Experience running and troubleshooting a complete local development stack with Podman Compose, including application services, Temporal, and databases. 
• Level of English – Intermediate+ and above. 

Nice-to-haves: 

• Strong experience with FastEndpoints 7.x, including endpoint-per-feature patterns, validators, and mappers. 
• Experience with GoRules ZEN engine — JDM format, ZEN expression language, decision table compilation. 
• Experience with Cerbos .NET client — principal/resource construction, CheckResource middleware integration. 
• Experience with JSONata .NET (Jsonata.Net.Native) for data transformation. 
• Understanding of Kafka consumer patterns. 
• Experience with SOAP/WCF client integration. 
• Hands-on experience with Temporal .NET SDK.
