DataOps Intern

tabbyНа сервисе с: 03.10.26 18:46
Зарплата не указанаСаудовская АравияRiyadhОфис

About the role

About the company

Tabby builds financial products used by millions of users across the GCC. The infrastructure behind them runs at scale, under strict requirements for reliability, cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.

This is not a course and not a shadowing programme. It is an engineering role with real responsibility.

Context

The Data Platform team runs the infrastructure that AI, ML and data workloads at Tabby depend on: compute, orchestration, deployment, observability and cost control across cloud environments. The work sits between classic DevOps and the machine-learning side. The same clusters, pipelines and monitoring that keep a service alive also keep models trained, served and measured.

The internship is designed for strong early-career engineers who are comfortable in Linux and a cloud, and who already use AI tools in their own work rather than reading about them. Interns join the team, work on real production infrastructure under senior review and are expected to meet engineering standards from day one.

Responsibilities

What you will do

This is not a helper or ticket-closing role. Interns work on real production tasks under senior review.
  • Work with the cloud infrastructure (primarily GCP) and the bare-metal fleet that host our data, ML and AI workloads
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for services and models
  • Run and troubleshoot containerised workloads on Kubernetes
  • Set up and improve monitoring, alerting and logging, and act on what they show
  • Automate repetitive operational work with Python or Bash instead of repeating it
  • Support model training and inference workloads: environments, resources, deployment, cost
  • Investigate incidents in infrastructure and pipelines and help find root causes
  • Improve the reliability and cost efficiency of the platform
  • Work within SAMA regulatory requirements: in Saudi fintech, where data lives and who can reach it is part of the engineering problem, not paperwork someone else handles

What you will actually work with

Not a wish list. This is the stack the team runs today. Nobody is expected to arrive knowing all of it.
  • Data: CDC pipelines, BigQuery, Airflow
  • ML: Airflow, ClearML and similar orchestration and experiment tooling
  • AI: bare-metal GPU servers, vLLM, open-source models served in-house
  • Platform: GCP, Kubernetes, Linux, networking
  • Context: SAMA regulations

Qualifications

Required

  • Solid Linux fundamentals: filesystem, processes, permissions, networking basics, comfortable in the shell
  • Hands-on experience with at least one cloud provider, evidenced by something you actually built or deployed. We run on GCP, so GCP experience is the most directly useful, but AWS or Azure evidence counts: the concepts transfer, and we would rather have someone who has really built something on one cloud than someone who has clicked around ours
  • Understanding of networking: DNS, TCP/IP basics, load balancing, what happens between a request and a service
  • Working knowledge of containers, and enough Kubernetes to deploy and debug a workload
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability concepts: metrics, logs, alerts and what makes an alert useful
  • Python or Bash sufficient to automate operational tasks
  • Experience with Git and standard development workflows
  • Real, current use of AI tools in your own engineering work: which tools, for what, and an informed view of which models suit which task. We would rather hear an honest comparison than a list of names
  • Structured thinking and attention to correctness
  • Open to constructive feedback
  • English sufficient for documentation and team communication

Strong plus

  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)
  • Experience running a CI/CD system end to end (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or similar)
  • An observability stack in practice: Prometheus, Grafana or equivalents
  • Exposure to MLOps tooling: experiment tracking, model registries, feature stores, inference serving
  • Has tried to run an open-source model themselves (on a laptop, a rented GPU, anything) and can explain how LLMs actually work rather than just which API they called
  • Any experience with GPU workloads, or with the cost side of running them
  • Interest in platform design and developer experience

Eligibility

  • Saudi nationals only
  • We welcome both current students and fresh graduates
  • We expect a full-time level of engagement. The programme is not part-time. Students can align time for classes or exams with their mentor in advance, but performance, ownership and involvement are expected at a full-time level

Benefits

  • Six months, starting autumn 2026
  • Paid internship, funded by Tabby
  • Full integration into an engineering team
  • Distributed engineering team across multiple countries
  • A path to a junior role on the platform side afterwards. That is our intent and what we aim for, not a guarantee: it depends on how the internship goes
This internship is intentionally demanding and designed for candidates aiming for fast professional growth in infrastructure and AI platform engineering.

Description

We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the infrastructure team to build and maintain the infrastructure that powers reliable product delivery at scale. You will help ensure that engineering teams can ship faster, systems stay stable, and customers receive a seamless experience.

In this role, you will own and improve the platforms, automation, and processes behind our development lifecycle — from deployment pipelines and infrastructure reliability to monitoring and operational excellence. Your will work closely with client team and impact for delivering new features and how confidently we can run our products in production.

We are actively integrating AI and automation into all areas of the business and are looking for candidates with a mindset focused on improving efficiency, automating repetitive processes, and delivering a better user experience.

Key responsibilities
  • Own and operate CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and the self-hosted runner fleet (Linux/macOS/Windows); keep deploys and rollbacks reliable and fast.
  • Operate Kubernetes (Hetzner) and Helm-managed services; containerize and ship services with Docker.
  • Operate and recover the data layer: MySQL/Percona XtraDB (multi-region replication), ClickHouse, Redis/Memcached, Kafka.
  • Own the network/edge layer: nginx load balancing, Cloudflare/CDN, DNS, TLS certificates.
  • Maintain the observability stack (self-hosted Sentry, Prometheus/Grafana, Graylog) and run its migrations.
  • Maintain build infrastructure for mobile/desktop apps
  • Serve as infrastructure on-call: incident response, coordination, and root-cause analysis.
  • Use AI tooling to accelerate configuration, automation, diagnostics, and documentation.

Requirements
  • Production CI/CD: Jenkins + GitHub Actions.
  • Kubernetes + Helm; Docker.
  • Strong Linux administration; nginx; operating PHP/php-fpm applications.

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer with strong, recent AWS experience to join our infrastructure team.

You will work in a hybrid environment spanning AWS, private OpenStack clouds, OKD, virtual machines, and bare-metal Linux servers. We are primarily looking for someone coming from an AWS/Linux/automation background.

Our platform serves hundreds of thousands of requests per second across many thousands of virtual machines. We are therefore looking for someone who is already comfortable working with high-load, business-critical production systems, rather than someone whose experience has been limited to small-scale or early-stage environments.

CORE STACK:

  • AWS

  • Terraform

  • OpenStack (as a consumer: VMs, networking, storage)

  • OKD / Kubernetes (OKD is the upstream of OpenShift)

  • Helm / Helmfile

  • Ansible

  • GitLab CI/CD

  • Linux

  • Virtual machines and bare-metal servers

  • Prometheus / VictoriaMetrics / Grafana

  • ELK

Our dedicated platform teams operate the underlying OpenStack and OKD platforms, while your team owns and operates the workloads running on top of them. Previous OpenStack or OKD expertise is not required: you will not be responsible for building OpenStack or maintaining the OKD control plane, but you should be comfortable deploying, operating, and troubleshooting workloads running on these platforms.

Job Responsibilities

Typical tasks in this role include:

  • Build and evolve AWS infrastructure with Terraform — extending existing modules and writing new ones — across compute, networking, storage, IAM, databases, and load balancing (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, ALB/NLB, IAM);

  • Provision and manage OpenStack virtual machines and the Linux services running on them, as well as workloads running on bare-metal Linux hosts;

  • Deploy and operate workloads in OKD using Helm and Helmfile, including maintaining charts, values, and templates, and troubleshooting deployments;

  • Build and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments;

  • Manage Linux systems with Ansible, including writing new roles and adapting existing ones;

  • Own observability for your workloads: configure metric collection in Prometheus and VictoriaMetrics, maintain Grafana dashboards, set up and tune alerts, and work with centralized logging in ELK — collection, parsing, and helping teams find and understand issues in application and infrastructure logs;

  • Work closely with Development and QA teams — supporting production systems as well as the test environments used for day-to-day development, and helping with deployments, environment configuration, infrastructure issues, and release blockers;

  • Troubleshoot issues across infrastructure, networking, Linux, CI/CD, and application platforms, including problems that span multiple systems;

  • Automate repetitive operational tasks and take part in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and improvements.

  • Review infrastructure code and work with DevOps, Development, QA, and Platform teams on changes that cross team boundaries.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • Has strong, recent hands-on AWS experience in large-scale, high-traffic, business-critical production systems;

  • Has solid experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code;

  • Has practical experience running workloads in Kubernetes-based environments and working with Helm;

  • Has experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab CI;

  • Has hands-on experience with Ansible, including writing or maintaining roles;

  • Understands infrastructure networking: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls/security groups, and connectivity troubleshooting;

  • Has practical experience with metrics and alerting (Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana) and centralized logging (ELK);

  • Can troubleshoot complex problems independently and follow them across multiple layers of the stack;

  • Is confident with Linux, virtual machines, and production infrastructure, is comfortable working outside fully managed cloud services, and understands what runs underneath the application. Comfortable using Bash, Python, or similar for automation.

Conditions

We know that great talent deserves great conditions, so here's what you can expect when joining us:

  • EU-based employment contract and a 3-year Cyprus work visa with full support for your relocation and visa processes, including assistance for your family.

  • EU passport. Opportunity to obtain an EU passport after 4 years of residence

  • Full relocation package: flights to Limassol for you and your family, a company-covered apartment for the first month, and full relocation support to make your move smooth and hassle-free.

  • Provident fund (Cypus): a long-term savings plan co-funded by you and the Company together (available after probation) that grows throughout your time with us in Cyprus.

  • Transparent performance reviews twice a year, with bonus opportunities and salary adjustments.

  • Private medical insurance for you and your family

  • Corporate mobile plan (unlimited in Cyprus with roaming included)

  • Mindfulness & well-being support, including psychological assistance with 50% coverage.
